Tens of thousands protest indoctrination in schools

Posted by parrotpatriot on September 7, 2009

In America?  No, silly!

Venezuela!

Tens of thousands marched through Venezuela’s capital on Saturday to protest what they call growing authoritarianism by President Hugo Chávez…Anti-Chávez protesters, many of them wearing white, filled the streets of Caracas, denouncing recent arrests of opposition members for alleged violence during protests and a new education law that critics fear could lead to indoctrination in schools.

It seems that 11 years of Chavez hasn’t, in the opinion of tens of thousands, done much for Venezuela.

“It’s very concerning because education is Venezuela’s future,” said 23-year-old engineering student Carlos Delgado, who also complained of soaring inflation and rampant crime after more than a decade under Chávez.

Over a decade. Wow. One leader. Top guy. Dictator.  Humph.

Reminds me of something that struck me the other day while reading the teacher’s guide for BO’s speech scheduled for Tuesday, September 8, 2009.  In it, there is a paragraph that reads:

On behalf of all Americans, I want to thank our educators who do society’s most important work by preparing our children for work and for life. No other task is more critical to our economic future and our social progress. I look forward to working with you in the months and years ahead to continue improving the quality of public education we provide all of our children.

I don’t know about you, but “months and years” sounds like forever in this case.  And what is all this “we” and “our” business?

From this article from 2007:

VENEZUELAN parents can have any schooling they like for their children—so long as it’s red. That is the message from President Hugo Chávez and his elder brother Adán, a Marxist physics teacher who is the education minister. It is spelt out in a 549-page draft education plan recently leaked to the press. It was expressed, too, at the start of the school year last month, when television showed images of high-school pupils chanting “fatherland, socialism or death!” and singing songs in praise of the president.

For many teachers and middle-class parents this smacks of an Orwellian nightmare. Fears of government intervention in private schools brought them on to the streets in the early years of Mr Chávez’s presidency, and helped provoke the coup that briefly ousted him from power in 2002. Back then, the government denied that it was seeking to indoctrinate youngsters. But both Chávez brothers now say that the aim of the new education plan is “the formation of the new man”.

Next, watch for more attacks on Fox News, Glenn Beck, and talk radio as BO & Co. continue to follow Chavez’s lead in shutting down political opposition.  FCC Announces May 7 ‘Diversity Committee’ Meeting – Behold a New ‘Fairness’ Doctrine

Obama and Chavez, best buds

Obama and Chavez, best buds

Here BO’s FCC Diversity Czar is talking about how the property owners revolted against Chavez, but now the “incredible revolution” is under way since Chavez is becoming more and more authoritarian.

Dude, take the tinfoil off of your head and come back to planet earth. You seem to have suffered from one too many alien abductions.

By the way, you got the interpretation of his speech snippet wrong –

“On behalf of all Americans, I want to thank our educators who do society’s most important work by preparing our children for work and for life. No other task is more critical to our economic future and our social progress. I look forward to working with you in the months and years ahead to continue improving the quality of public education we provide all of our children.”

OMG. The ‘behalf’ word sounds too much like behead, which sounds just like behind…which sounds really homosexual…and God hates them, despite the fact that he created them, at least that what it says in the bible.

And ‘all’…what is this ‘all’ thing. You don’t represent us, you we’re only elected by America!

‘Important work’?? You have to be kidding me, encouraging our children to excel in school in an effort to position ourselves as leaders in the world once again and secure our financial future, well that’s not important. A true patriotic leader doesn’t address the nation’s children with words of encouragement. Quite the contrary, a true patriot resorts to name calling and denigrates anyone who disagrees with him slightly. A true patriot cuts off his nose to spite his face, and helps to usher in an era of hatred and fear while paralyzing progress and passes the buck to the next generation. A true patriot sets up his children, who he claims to love so much, for failure, ostensibly in the name of “patriotism” while in reality, the underlying motivation is xenophobia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenophobia — just in case you’re from the south).
