CBO document dump

Posted by parrotpatriot on August 27, 2009

The Congressional Budget Office today put out 10 documents estimating the cost of proposed bills.

The first one will cost $260 MILLION and will go to the Department of Energy:

H.R. 3029 would authorize the appropriation of $260 million over the 2011-2014 period for the Department of Energy (DOE) to improve the efficiency of turbines that use natural gas to generate electricity. Assuming appropriation of the authorized amounts, CBO estimates that implementing the legislation would cost $221 million over the 2010-2014 period and $39 million after 2014. Enacting the legislation would not affect
direct spending or revenues.

Next, $1 BILLION would go to the DOE to improve wind energy technologies.

H.R. 3165 would authorize the appropriation of $1 billion over the 2010-2014 period for a Department of Energy (DOE) research and development program to improve wind energy technologies. Assuming appropriation of the authorized amounts, CBO estimates that implementing the legislation would cost $880 million over the 2010-2014 period and $120 million after 2014. Enacting the legislation would not affect direct spending or revenues.

As if it is not, by now, clear that they seek to destroy us from the inside, throw on the next one which will cost $2.85 BILLION for the DOE to “support research activities to reduce the use of vehicle fuels that generate high emissions.”

H.R. 3246 would authorize appropriations totalling $2.85 billion over the 2010-2014 period for the Department of Energy (DOE) to support research activities to reduce the use of vehicle fuels that generate high emissions. Assuming appropriation of the authorized amounts, CBO estimates that implementing the legislation would cost $2.43 billion over the 2010-2014 period and $423 million after 2014. Enacting the legislation would not affect direct spending or revenues.

But the next one takes the cake. Why, pray tell, does the DOE need to study the “social and behavioral factors that affect energy consumption” unless they wish to control you and your energy use?

H.R. 3247 would require the Department of Energy (DOE) to establish a research program to study social and behavioral factors that affect energy consumption. The bill would authorize the appropriation of $60 million over the 2010-2015 period to provide research grants under the program. The bill also would require DOE to appoint a director and establish an advisory committee for the program.
